Youth Entrepreneurs Support (YES) is planned to be a knowledge based and activity oriented leadership and entrepreneurship, youth training program in the country. YES will use a dynamic and customizable training curriculum based on participants’ needs and market demands in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in buildings. Through the PiO component of YES, we hope to educate at least 250 young people about leadership and entrepreneurship in Renewable Energy Technologies and Energy Efficiency.
Our aim in this program is to engage the employers and industries in development of a curriculum addressing what the requirement of the current market is and to meet those needs by providing the required material respectively.
Areas of implementation:
1) Developing a market oriented and customized Curricula,
2) Conducting the training and coaching YES participants,
3) Conducting the trainings for senior engineering staff of different organization and awareness rising.
Conducting the training and coaching YES participants:
Discussion method: This is a training technique in which the learning derives principally from the participants themselves rather than from an instructor. It is normally recognized to be of three main types:
1) Directed discussion,
2) Developmental discussion,
3) Problem-Solving discussion.
Main Uses of this method during the program will be consist of problem solving exercises, forming or molding attitudes, stimulating interest and constructive thought, supplementing other methods and reviewing/consolidating. The method’s learning advantages are basically high learning activity and quick arousal of participants’ interest.
Role play method:
This is a learning technique in which trainees are presented with a situation which they are required to explore by acting out the roles of those represented in the situation.
We will be using this method for 1) changing/modifying attitudes, and 2) Developing interactive knowledge and skills. The method has many advantages including, creating a great deal of interest, active participation, ‘living’ example, and an exercise where emotions become the predominant feature.
Case study method:
This is a learning technique in which a real situation or series of events is presented to trainees for their analysis and consideration of possible solutions to the problems identified. Their findings can be compared subsequently with what actually occurred. We will be using this method mainly for problem solving, developing analytical skills, identifying variables, gaining confidence in decision-making, changing/modifying attitudes of the participants, introducing and consolidating learning outcomes, and teamwork practical and theoretical practices.
The advantages of using this method are as follows:
1) Provide concrete subjects for discussion,
2) Participants’ experiences can be brought into use,
3) Provides opportunities for active participation.
Brain storming method:
This is a technique used for finding solutions by means of stimulating ideas. A small group of people with or without conscious knowledge of the subject meets and contributes any suggestion or idea that strikes them, no matter how fantastic or impossible it may sound. All suggestions are encouraged and criticism is not allowed at this stage, although contributors are later invited to explain their ideas. Subsequently, all the ideas submitted are sifted and assessed.
Main Uses of this method will be for problem solving and consolidating previous learning outcomes. The method has many advantages; using participant’ experience and ideas and very active participation are just to name a few.
Field trip is a training method, which provides a dynamic environment near to or within the scenes of real action for learners to be a part of. It is a training method in which opportunities are provided to the learners to visit organizations, work sites, communities or villages, etc. with a view to observe, be a part of and collect information to reflect, analyze and learn from. They use the experience undergone by them for learning during and after the trip. Field trips thus help create a dynamic learning environment. All together, we will be having around 12 site visits and field trips for our program participants. ost organizations.
1) To secure firsthand information from experienced people about the job, organization, etc.,
2) To develop skills for managing uncertainties,
3) To challenge pre-conceived views/perceptions.
Scope of activities covered by the consultant :
1) The curricula’s content developed for RE technical training include but not limited to:
Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) Systems, Solar Water Heater (SWH), Solar Water Pumping (SWP), RE Business Development, Best Practices
2) The curricula’s content developed for EE technical training include but not limited to:
Energy Efficiency Measures and its various forms in Buildings including Thermal energy, Heat transfer, Building envelopes, Lighting systems, Plug loads, HVAC, Energy management, Data analysis, Energy auditing, Water and energy efficiency, Business cases, Best Practices
3) The curricula’s content developed for Entrepreneurship and Leadership training include but not limited to:
Essentials of Entrepreneurship including Business Ownership, Identifying & assessing the opportunities, Customer value proposition, Market sizing, Competitive landscape,
Market research and strategy, International Markets, Business Plan Development, Marketing Management, Digital and Social presence, Communication and Presentation skills, Founders, core team & early hires, Raising investment, Financial and Accounting Management and Understanding Financial Statements, Business modeling, growth drivers assessment and development, Organizational Development and Change, Leadership and Decision Making
Conduct Trainings and awareness raising:
Part of YES program is to also coaching governmental officials including senior engineers in conducting practical calculations and case studies of EE measures in both warm and cold weather for buildings. The EE expert shall provide the required material and case studies, travel to expected locations and conduct the trainings accordingly. Moreover, part of the assignment includes conducting awareness programs on RE technologies, energy saving and proper behavior of energy consumers. This program be conducted for intermediate and high school students.
1) Informative Program for Youngsters (children & Teenagers)
This informative program will be conducted to inform children and youngsters on different sources of Energy, its production and saving measures. The program will be conducted in schools and students from different grads from 4th to 12th will be attending it.
2) Awareness program about Saving of Energy Program for women
Women as main Energy Consumer will be awarded about Energy Efficiency and saving measures by our team of experts. The questions that will be discussed during these programs are: What can women do to save energy? What may be their positive role? How can they save money with Energy saving? How they can prevent Energy Loss? How they can help the economy of the whole family? and many more. This program will be conducted in different provinces and in center based on the priority locations advised by GIZ.
3) Practical calculations of Energy Efficiency in Buildings
Two practical case studies will be conducted and trained for senior engineers of different relevant organizations. This particular training will be focusing on Energy Loss in cold weather and Energy Gain in hot weather.
